Mavericks owner Mark Cuban admits he’s smoked pot in his life: “Again, I’d just be hypocritical if I said, ‘Josh, smoking pot is just the worst thing you could possibly do.’”
Josh Howard of the Mavs caught a lot of flak from reporters — notably ESPN’s, which has a feature called the “Budweiser Hot Seat” — when he revealed he smokes marijuana during the offseason. Later reports said he’d have to go into the rehab, clearly a silly idea when he says he’s able to abstain the entire season.
Cuban also says he has had players who had problems with smoking too much pot, and they were either traded or waived. It still seems to make so much more sense if drug use that hampered job performance were those deeming intervention from employers, rather than blanket testing as most companies do.
