Action News had an incredibly long (for the 11 pm news, at least) report on low-dose naltrexone last night. The drug is already used in high doses to treat alcohol and opiate addicts, but a study at Penn State showed it could help with Crohn’s disease; there is anecdotal evidence (the best kind!) it helps with a variety of diseases.
Naltrexone wouldn’t make drug companies much money, as it’s already available as a generic in higher doses; the Phase II trial for Chron’s is ongoing at Penn State.
