Glassboro police arrested two Rowan University students for possessing less than 50 grams of pot.
That’s two college kids with less than two ounces of weed, yet Glassboro used the SWAT team to raid their house. A SWAT team. For less than two ounces of pot.
As Radley Balko demonstrated in his white paper titled Overkill: The Rise of Paramilitary Police Raids in America, paramilitary drug raids subject “nonviolent drug offenders, bystanders, and wrongly targeted civilians to the terror of having their homes invaded while they’re sleeping, usually by teams of heavily armed paramilitary units dressed not as police officers but as soldiers.” Drug suspects, police officers and bystanders have been killed in these raids.
And Glassboro did it again just yesterday for five more drug suspects.
